When an engine overheats, the biggest concern is the heads, as they get the hottest. When you head heads up too much they can warp, causing the mating surface between the head and block to not be flush, blowing out headgaskets.

Many things can cause cars to overheat, usually its a busted radiator hose or a thermostate stuck closed. Often times the culprit could be low coolant, blown headgasket (exhaust heating the coolant), cracked block, + other things I cant think of right now. Even if it runs fine today, you could still have 1 or more of the above problems.

Determine if it just ran hot this once, then find and fix the problem. If it chronically runs hot, then you may have a more serious problem.

And when head gaskets warp or the heads get cracked, coolantwill be sucked into the oil system. If there is a foamy slush in your oil system then you will know your problem - hope that's not it!!!
