new grrl needs help!
I hope someone here can help me out. Today when I went to start my 95 mustang, the key would not budge forward. I ran up to Autozone and picked up a new cylinder and went back to change it out, but for the old one to be released out of the steering colum the key has to be in the "run" position. So, how the heck to I get it to release if it won't turn to run? Please help.
p.s. I accidentially posted this in the new members thread...my appologies.

Um, yup. It goes a little each way. I even tried moving it back and forth to try and get the key to work.Just the key will not click forward or back. And I cannot move the gear selector out of park (cannot find any kind of manual release button either)
Just move the steering wheel around and try turning it. Also, press the gas pedal as you're turning it too, if wiggling the steering wheel doesn't work. Sometimes the ignitions just lock up. It's stupid. But just wiggle it around and it should go.
mine locked up on me tonight, and I couldn't get the key out. I did the turn the enigine off and coast into the driveway thing, and when I stopped, my steering wheel was locked and the key wouldn't come out. I had to jiggle it aorund, and finally when I turned it back into the on position (with some muscle to hlp it out) it came loose. I had to hold the wheel in the center of the small area of travel it had. Apparently it was stuck up agains tthe locking mechanism, kind of like torque-lock in an auto transmission.
push the brake and make sure ur car is in park for an auto and make sure the clutch is fully engaged if u have a manual.....n work both of them well to be sure...wiggle the steering wheel and just keep playin with it....im sure it just locked up
