brake light problem
recently my left and right brake lights went out so i changed the bulbs but that did not solve the problem. The strange thing is that the center brake light still works so I first thought it might have been a fuse problem but changing the fuse did nothing too. So far only the center brake light works. I know for sure its not a light bulb problem because with the head lights on the lights still work it just does not illuminate when i press on the brake.
Remove the liner in your trunk, the piece that wraps around the driver's side. There is a plug there, the harness comes from the trunk, taillights, and fuel pump. Check it for a good connection. The light green with an orange strip wireis yourbrake lights, hit it with a volt meter or test light and check for voltage with the brakes applied. If that checks out, go to the harness plug at the tailights on the inside of the trunk and check the same wire. Check both side and the main harness on both sides of the connector. If one doesn't have power while the brake is depressed, then that's where your issue is.
The tail lights are dual element bulbs so you can have one side work and the other burnt out like tail lights work but no turn or brake lights or visa versa. Do the rear turn signals work?
I am having the same issue, the center bulb on the driver side and the outer bulb on the pass. side work on brake and turn, the other bulbs are out, have replaced the bulbs 2 times, with no luck but alot of spare bulbs now. The running lights all work.
