Flywheel sits just behind the the engine and helps transfer power from the engine to the tranny. It's much more complicated than that, but that's enough as not to serriously confuse anybody.

Getting a lightweight flywheel will not add any rwhp, but will improve engine responsiveness and accelleration as a result. Won't be a lot by any means, mainly a good mod for higher powered mods.

I noticed a big difference when I went from an aluminum flywheel to a steel. 1st and 2nd don't rev nearly as fast with a steel flywheel.

A Flywheel only exists on a Manual Transmission car, Auto's have what's called a 'Flex Plate' and there isn't any "high performance" ones I've heard of.
