Default Tuner question

I am getting a new exhaust system probably on tuesday or wednesday depending on when the parts come in. Im going true dual flowmaster 40's. Someone at the shop told me that the only way I will get a power increase with the exhaust is if I get a tuner. Is this true? I figure its probably a good idea to get one anyway.

Haha, yeah that's what I did. Depending on what it's affecting on your emissions system too you can turn of CEL's and such. With a tune for the exhaust it'll take advantage of the system better. Is it just a catback? What kind of setup are you going with? A tuner will help no matter what, just makes a bigger difference the more mods and such you do when tuned correctly to use all those mods.

Default RE: Tuner question

They are just removing the Y pipe and using 2 mufflers. Headers and cats will not be changed. I got confused with the first guy I talked to there. He said they could not do it thinking that the Y pipe had cats in it or something. Then I talked to the exhaust guy later and he said that removing the Y pipe would be no problem. Anyway besides the exhaust the only other thing that will affect power on my car is the air silencer removal and K&N air filter.
