Default Speedo Sensor Question

I have a 98' 3.8, T-5 tranny. The T-5 tranny is from a 99 mustang 3.8L. The speedo sensor will read 120mph when doing only about 40mph.

My question is: What year speedo sensor do I need? a 98? or a 99?

Thanks in advance.

i dont know how you would get that to work..

the 94-98 uses a mechanical vss with a little gear that spins inside the sensor, where as the 99 and up does not utilize this little gear because its an electronic vss. not sure how youd make that work [&:]

well i took the sensor off my 98 tranny and threw it in the 99 and it just says its going faster than i really am. but the speedo wasnt working at all when i had it installed on the 98 tranny.

my best bet would be to get a 99 though?
