have you changed your plugs and wires lately, that was causing mine to misfire!

RPM's are going to drop off when you press in your clutch but it should be at 5 or a little over if i remember right.

What did you do to change that or did you leave it?

ihey guys and gals i have a few small problems with my car that i have noticed the car is a 2000 v6 5 speed with 78k on it
1. when i push in the clutch the rpms drop from 750 to about 350-400 rpm

2. the engine has bee seeming like its loosing power @3000+ rpm like it has a misfire or is jujst not getting enough fuel or the fuel isnt being completely burned what could be the cause of this i just put new plugs in the car last weekend
1) It could be the IAC valve, you can pull it off really easily and clean it with brake parts cleaner. Or it could be a dirty fuel filter, that would also lead to problems above 3K, if you haven't changed it in awhile it is worth doing either way.

2) misfire usually due to a plug or plug wire. way to test this is with the motor running is to pull off one plug wire at a time and see if things change. if it gets worse it isn't that cylinder (plug or wire) put the wire back on and go to the next one. The cylinder that doesn't produce a change in misfire when removing the plug wire is the one that may have a bad plug. Pull it out and check it.

If you just put plugs in last weekend and this problem just came about that is likely the cause. Take the plugs out and check the gap, make sure you got quality wires, you would be surprised how easily cheap wires can break down. Make sure the gap is not to wide because this would cause serious power loss over 3k, take it from someone who knows. The gap should be set at 0.052. Make sure the gapper you are using is the expensive one with the wires, not the thing that looks like a quarter with increments around the edge, that leads to seriously inaccurate gapping and may very well be the cause of your problem.

Recap
-clean IAC with brake parts cleaner, replace fuel filter
-regap plugs with the proper gapper at 0.052" use something that looks like this
not something that looks like this
-after both of those are complete put your wires back and make sure they are tight.

best of luck, pm me with questions about any of this.
