Default Running Lean

I've got a '01 Mustang with a 3.8L and an engine code that says its running lean on the number 1 bank. You guys think some fuel injector cleaner and replacing the airfilter should do the trick or is this most likely a more serious issue?

try maf i been having the same problem with my car and it is a night mare i still cant figure out why my car is still doing this problem my car is running so lean that when you push the clutch in it will stall because the motor is getting tight and temporarily siezing running lean is a very very serious problem so first try with mass air flow and work from there

If he was running Lean on both banks I could see the MAF being the issue but since it only affects one side, I would have to saythe front 02 sensor is bad on that side (Bank 1 = passenger side). Try swapping your front O2 sensors. If the problem follows the sensor (would read 'Running lean bank 2) then you found the problem.Replace the 02 sensor. If it doesn't follow the swap but remains on the same side, then you may have a clogged injector.

+1, it's NOT the MAF if it's only lean on one bank and it's not the air filter either.

thanks for the info, ive been doin some reading and I think the O2 sensors are my best bet to start. FYI the exact code reads "P0171 system too lean" (bank 1), if you guyshave anymore suggestions.

P0153 is for the front O2 on bank 2. So that's on the driver side right?
