VAPs intake spacer installed, some issues
me have '98 3.8L single port. the spacer adds 3/8" or something like that. here's what's not described in the parts instructions, but now I know what needs to be done:
(1) the bracket in front I need to redrill the hole for the upper intake plenum (UIP)bolt. I'll fix later.
(2) a vacuum hose is stretched to the limit between UIP and fuel solenoid. I'll fix later
(3)it was hell getting the EGR pipe and EGR valve back on. this is how I did it:
(a) remove hood
(b) jack car to get engine hoist over the pipe and EGR
(c) attach EGR to pipe
(d) attach hoist with chain to EGR pipe just below valve.
(e)crank her up ever so slightly. this stretches the pipe enough - including the bends - so the EGR valve lines up with the UIP at the higher position.
(f) optional step:lose EGR gasket somewhere under or over the tranny. go to auto parts store and buy another stinkin gasket (you may want to skip this step!)
(g)start one bolt in
(h) have to crank a little more on the pipe
(i) "work" the other bolt in
(j) tighten bolts and pipe flare nut
The bolts that Steve gave me for the install kit were shorter than stock! The stock bolts worked fine with the spacer.
I can actually feel the small hp increase.
I'll install the J-mod valve body in the next few days. (I got these two items with a 10% discount - together)

I never had to mess with the egr when i did my install; simply take the upper intake off, place spacer, and replace upper intake. Might be a single port thing.
