Default alternator problems

i have gone through three alternators that keep making the same winning sound. Two were Duralast, which i found out they dont replace the bearings, and the second is a Bosh, which is brand new. If any one has had similar problems please let me know.

is it just making a noise? or is it not charging your battery? be more specific.

Is there anything that may have tweaked the alt bracket? An accident or maybe a loose bolt? If you have an 02 V6 and you've been through three alts, something is tweaking on the thing. The whinig sound could be the belt on the edge of the pulley. Does the edge or edges of the belt look chewed up at all?

it doesn't stop after a few minutes. It is a continuous sound. I had been in an accident in october. But nothing appears to be bent. the belt is new since the accident and i dont see any wear on the side of the belt. also the bots are tight. A while back a mechanic had told me it was the power steering pump, but ford told me it was the alternator.

Check everything in your drive belt run. Maybe it is a PS pump or air cond. causing the sound, but three alts in that short of time. Something is stressing your alt bearings.

I agree with hotrods, if you are changing alternators like changing your underwear, something is stressing it and causing it to malfunction. Check everything.

one way to check is to get a bottle of belt spray... if you spray it on and the noise stops, something is out of whack...... although I think we all already agreee that something is wrong...... either a bent mount bracket or bent pulley.

Duralast alternators are fine, it's gotta be something tweaking that belt or a wire short
