I have never heard of someone putting a GT guage in a v6, but i suppose it MIGHT be possible, but you would def. need to reprogram the ECU or perhaps get the GT ECU, but i suggest just getting a cool v6 gauge, i mean, i think it would be cool to get at GT gauge, but it might cost a bit of money, and instead of spending the money, you could get some perf. mods...or just some autometer gauges, which look cool.

good luck

I put GT guages in my v6 and they read 150 but my speed and rpms where way off.......the only way this is possible is if you know somebody with a calibrator....cuz they are going to have to calibrate your guages which takes some time....and money....DON"T BUY GT GUAGES MAN....just get some tight V6 Guages that read 120MPH...Don't go through all that hastle to get your speedo to read higher than 120 cuz we all know yours prolly can't go any faster! ...I've got reverse glow guages and they look freakin sweet!!

I didn't want to post, but i just had to after I read this. This is completely wrong. The GT gauges will work 100% correctly if you get the correct gauges. I currently have them in my car and my speedo and tach is 100% dead on. Well 99.9 for the speedo. When you have a 94-98 V6 you need to use a 94-95 GT cluster, you can use a 96-98, but then the tach will be off, this is were you ran in the problem. The 94-95 GT Tach goes to 7k like our's does. The 96+ goes up to 8K, so you'd be off bout 1K when you're at 5500. So that solves that problem, but to get your speedo to read right, you need to pull the tailshaft housing from the tranny and swap out the speed DRIVE gear, not the driven gear that you change when you change gears. You need to get a green 8T gear not the Yellow 7T that comes stock on our cars. Now you need to make sure you get the whole gauge cluster, because the electronics in the cluster help give the correct speedo display, you just can't buy the gauges. And finally if you have a 99-04 V6, you're SOL unless you don't mind have your tach off a little. And you're is a much easier swap because you do not have to pull off the tranny tailshaft.

I heard you couldnt put GT guages on 99-04 v6's but maybe you can.... A friend of mine put a mach 1 guage in his GT but I dont think you can switch the guages from a gt to v6...

You guys are freaking ignorant........I put Gt guages in my car and i am telling you the speedo and the rpms were off. If you really want gt guages and you are willing to go into the engine and do all that stuff 97 stallion said, then i suggest buying the gauges that are made for you car.....fyi the gt guages i bought went to 150 mph and 8k rpms stupid!

no you don't go into the engine to change this its all pretty simple....you put the entire gauge cluster in the car...then you go down and change the speedo gear and your all set...the gear just changes how it is read...you can do the same thing when you change the gauge cluster fro 85 to 140 in the older mustangs....its really easy....i have never done it but thats what i have been told how to do it...

I dont know why youre callin anyone stupid, because obviously you are the ignorant one. 97 "Stallion" just layed out all of the parts and steps necessary for "Stolen" to convert GT gauges to the speedometer settings in his car. Now unless "Stallion" is the best BSer in the world, I'd tend to listen to him.

Nah, i'm not BSing you. I can even take pics if you want to of my gauges so you can see, or a movie even so you can see the V6 in my engine bay and the 150mph speedo. I'm not the most experienced mechanic here but I do have quite the extensive background or resume if you will. And I usually only post here on the forum if I see something that has some sort of mis-info or if I see some "newbie" going down the wrong path. I guess you can say I was one of the first people to start modifing my V6. It's been about 6 years and I've done and seen just about everything so I know usually what will work or what is a waste of time for these engines. Trust me I'll never steer you wrong.
