the powersteering fluid and brake fluid sounds useless

tranny at 50k,coolant at 50, andrear diff at 30 yea, but PS fluid and brake fluid[&:]there not the same set up like a gear setup where it needs lubrication its more almost hydralic (im unsure how to word it i know its NOT hydralic fluid)

ive never even heard of flushing PS fluid or brake fluid, and i work with money hungry skum bags at jiffy lube who dont even try and rip people off for that[&:][8D]

I'll stick to the tranny, coolant and rear diff then. Thanks again!

I would have to disagree on this one. I have never flushed the brake fluid but I have flushed out a power steering pump before. Sometimes the fluid will get close to being black or black and smell awful. Flushing the power steering fluid is easy, if it's real black and smells gross, you will need replacement soon. Flushing is just a patch really if it's that bad. Enjoy!

if the tranny wasnt done in the first 75k dont touch it, rad probably needs to be done, i havent touched the rear because i know if something happens to it ill then have a reason to slap 4.10s and a detroit in it

LOL @ Mustangman. You know, I think I'll clean mine now. I have 116 grand on the engine but it was taken care of by a cool elderly guy and thenme since about40 grand or so. I think thats a really good idea man. I'll clean it, if something messes up, 3.73's and a detroit for me Good idea! :P

P.S.fluid will get pretty gross over time. There is a pump, which likes to growl if not treated right or air gets into the system. Brake fluid does not wear out but it is Hydroscopic (soaks up water), if you dont pump it out after a few years , eventually brakes will leak or sieze up, due to corrosion. Also with disc brakes, fluid will get very hot under some conditions. Water will boil in the system & brakes can "lock-up" due to steam vapour pressurising the sytem. Not a good thing & believe me it CAN happen.

Your supposed to do brake fluid like every two years. The Powersteering fluid is pretty much trans fluid(cheaper..) i have never seen it get gross other than getting water inside. You are also supposed to bleed the PS system if theres a bleeder screw, i have never done this tho. I still wouldnt do the trans.... just my opinion

My steering just recently started making noises. I'm guessing I should have it flushed then for sure..... right?

Wont hurt, here's the deal.
P.S. fluid on this engine is actually Mercon ATF. It should be nice pink colour, if it's brown get it replaced. You can do it yourself. Take off the RETURN hose from the PS pump, (plug the reservior quick!). Get a container to drain the old Mercon into. You need an assistant to start & stop the engine & turn the steering wheel lock to lock ,while you pour fresh oil into the reservoir. Note the oil coming from the return. When it comes out fresh Titty pink your done! Install the return hose check the level & Viola! job complete. Best to jack up the front wheels so you dont strain the steering gear.

Brake fluid, every 2-3 years, bleed the brake lines. Crack open the brake line bleeder valves with a hose line into a clear jar. Gently pump the pedal untill fresh clean DOT 3 or 4 fluid with no bubbles comes from the hose. Do this on each wheel starting from rear longest & ending at front shortest. This will replace fluid & get air out at the same time. You need the same guy to pump the pedal while you work the bleed screws !!!

No dont use mercon when flushing, buy cheap autostore or gas station power steering fluid. 1.59vs 4.50. Also put some Lucas in it too. Never hurts. When you fill it back up use The good stuff but not when flushing
