power steering pump replacement
hello there,
new to the forum, as well as the mustang world. I just bought myself a black 2000 3.8L V6, completely stock, with a manual tranny, which I'm learning manual on. so its sounding like I'm going to need a new power steering pump, as it squealing/whining (more than the mustang normal level). I took it to my mechanic and he said the pump wold run me $100-150, and labor another $100. I've read in some other posts that one could get this replaced for $45 dollars in an hour. is this a reasonable amount for my mechanic to charge? how easy is this to do yourself? some comments on a power steering core vs a complete pump would also be helpful. thank you in advance for your help!

I had that same problem but good news i went to advance auto and bought a power steering pump for 80 but when you take the old one back you get 30 back, but anyways its not that hard to take the old power steering pump off and put the new one on. It will save the money for something thats not that hard to do. Good luck and hope this helps
