coolant flush?
just before putting my new rad in im wondering if i should do a coolant flush/how to do a cooling flush and if you have any resources as to how to do it? just wanna make sure i do this all right the first time!
You shouldn't really have to do a coolent flush. You will need a coolent flush machine to do one and its pretty expensive machine so it would just be easier to take it to a shop if you really want it done.
You can buy a coolant flush kit real cheap from Pep Boys (around 10 bux). But you can also do it the old fashion way. when the engine is cold, open the valve **** at the bottom of the radiator. Then take off the radiator cap and turn your heater on to high in the car. Now start the car and take your garden hose and just keep the radiator full the whole time (approx. 10 minutes) Then turn off the car and let the radiator drain all the way down. Close the valve **** and refill with coolant and water and away you go.
That works well the flush kit is the better way with the flush detergant but is a PITA to get all the soap out . If you live in the city they will linch you for getting collant in the storm drain ( GOD DAMN TREE HUGGING YUPPIE EPA A** H***S ) the rad shop does a great job for a low price between 30 to 50 bux
