If your only dumping the drain pan you are not getting the majority of the fluid which is in the torque converter. I'm not sure about newer models but on the SN95 there is a removable dust cap just forward of the transmission pan. This can be easily removed. Then rotate the torque converter until you see the drain plug. Remove that drain plug. There is about 8 quarts in there so it takes awhile before it finishes to drain. Drain your pan and change the filter.

Also make sure your car is running when you check the fluid level.

How many total quarts are needed if you drain both the pan and converter?

12 to 13 quarts in all. I recently did mine and it cost me around 60 dollars including fluid and the filter. A transmission shop wanted around 100 to 150 to do it.

DAYUUUUMMM!!!!... 100 to 150 bucks. Maybe I'm just tight w/my money, that's crack prices! It's just a slight bit more complicatedthan changing your oil. It gets messy tho when you take that pan off, so watch out!
