clutch cable snapped?
on my way home, about to turn into my drive way, i pushed the clutch in, and heard something snap. The clutch stayed to the floor, giving me time enough to somewhat force the car into Natural. Once done, i cruised into the driveway.
i can start the car, but can not put the car into gear. the clutch still is resistance, it doesn't just fall to the floor every time you touch it. but engaging the clutch doesn't do anything.
now i'm hoping it's just the cable that snapped, though right now things aren't looking so bright. i'd think if the cable snapped, the clutch would just fall to the floor.
so i have several questions.
#1: any idea what the problem is?
#2: i looked under the car and saw where the cable went into, but didn't see a way of taking it off. does any one know how to do this?
#3: something i can fix, or need to call in the big guns...aka mechanics.

I did that with my UPR cable, sucks a$$. I was just a few feet from the driveway too.
There is a cable that comes through the firewall next to the booster and goes down the driver side of the engine and back. That is the clutch cable. There is a cover that is on the bottom of the transmission that is held with a single 8mm screw. Once removed you can access the calbe.
Its a pretty easy project that you can do yourself.

Lots of good instructions/pics on the web (like these: http://www.musclemustangfastfords.co...ble/index.html)
Yep, cables break when they bind. A slight twist or any abnormality in it will cause a stress point. With time, that specific point ends up taking a lot more abuse than the rest of the cable and they break. It happens.
Like was posted, it's fairy easy to install one yourself.
