Default Far away from horsepower

Hey guys. I own a 1983 Capri with 39K original miles on it. Too bad it doesn't run like it has 39K on it.
Today was kind of a busy day as I rewired my rear speakers changed the trans fluid and well spent the rest of my day pondering.

We just ordered tthis carb since the one I have has been rebuilt and yet it still leaks.

We haven't done much for performance, but I want it to be a little bit quicker.
Let me restart. It has a 3.8L V6. My problem is in '84 the engine was redesigned and it's hard for me to find parts for this car.

A few questions:
The main bearing is leaking oil. How should I go about fixing this. Should I take it to a ford dealer and let them deal with it?
AC doesn't work... not a problem. I've heard figures ranging from 10% horsepower stealing not even running and up to 25% Horsepower gone running. I wanted to know if it would be a good or a bad idea to pull the AC system out. What that would intale. On insepction I would have to fab a pully that takes place of the AC compresser as the belts will rub. Would this be a smart Idea or not?

Tomorrow I'm going to buy a K&N air filter (number E-1325) because I just like the Idea of having it...

Does anybody have any reasonably priced performance gainers? Little things from 100-500 bucks? I want to do something with the exhaust, make it look sweet and sound sweet but nothing for an '83, at least not the 3.8L.

Any help/ links/ phone numbers or direct refrence to parts or mods you've done to your Capris/Mustangs would be greatly appriciated.

Thanks,
Michael

Exhaust would probably give you a good amount of hp on that car, anything in the 80s exhaust is VERY restrictive. [hr]

Could you maybe point me to a good sounding, good performing exhaust that wont burst my wallet(around 500 or less)?
If their is such a thing. The "Good" parts of the exhaust are taken care of. So it's not quite as restrictive.

Thanks
Michael

Called up flowmaster... they have a muffler number 942053 which is 2 inch.

Should I use the 2 inch set up or should I bump it up to 2.25inch number 942453?
