Default real world tire advice 17x8 wheels

hello all. Looking to go staggered on my bullitts. I'm going to run 245/45 on front. tire rack says I can go 265/40-17 on the rear. I remember someone saying 255/50 was the widest you could go on rear. anyone know? also any preference to size/brands? thanks.

if you are going staggered, youll wanna run 17 x 8s in the front and 17 x 9's in the back...or 17 x 9s in the front, and 10.5s in the back. im pretty sure for the 8s, the size u want are 245/45s, 9s-275/40s, and 10.5s - 315/35s.

I'm not able to get any larger rear wheels at this time. So, I'm just gonna have to push it with the 8's. So, original question stands.

You can actually squeeze 275's on the stock 8 inch rim. They'll be a bit bulging, but they will fit.

275/40/17 is the same as 245/45/17. They ride the same as the 245's.

Correct, I have 245/45 fronts and 275/40 rears on my winter 17x8 wheels. Works great and looks good - well as good as winter wheels can look.
