ANOTHER ENGINE?????//
you might have to run the whole new wiring harness im not sure if there different but the best thing would be to put the 4.2 crank in but if your looking for good power buy the 4.3 stroker kit from supersixmotorsports.com its a little pricy but its the most efficient and you could keep the original motor to the car
oops my bad. It dosn't matter tho, for a 01+ it's a pretty simple swap. You have to take the engine all the way out of your car, then tear it down completely, all the way to the crank. Then you need to get the block bored/honed, then put it back together. Take it from me, it's a lot easier to just get the 4.2L shortblock.
And Ryan, where can you get block work done in 2 days? It takes weeks usually to get your stuff done at those places.

You really can get by with just puting in new crank bearings and tossing the 4.2 crank in there. I don't believe the blockhas to be machined for the rods.
If it does has to be "clearanced" for the rods, then yes it's a full on rebuild.
He seems to have some good experienced support as well.
I've never waited weeks on anything from a machine shop, not even a rebuild. I can get a block dipped and honed in a day assembly done by the following day, a diesel block at that, and heads may take up to 3 days if they're busy. I usually just get a machine shop to clean and prep the block, install freeze plugs and cam bearings, instal valves, and assemble overhead-cam heads, the rest I do myself.
