alright a just got my 94 v6 auto and it has about 195 thousand miles. Does anyone know when ill need an engine swap?

 

A lot of it depends on how it was taken care of previously. I bought a 96 stang w/ 127k miles, and the engine only lasted 3 days after i bought it. All you can do is hope that is hasn't had any big problems you didn't know about, and that they maintained it well.

 

depends, the 94-96.5s had a tendancy to eat headgaskets, now maybe the previous owner fixed it or maybe they didnt, but if they did you should be set, if not id keep saving up for a just in case senario

 

definitely save a for a just in case scenario, but you never know it depends on how well it was maintained

 

ive heard of stangs lasting as long as 400,000 miles, and ive heard of ones with blown engines with under 75k miles. its all in the maintainance. you take care of it, itll take care of you. really, a car could last a lifetime, if you keep swapping parts, but there gets to a point when you ask if its worth it to you to keep it, or buy something newer.

4.2L FTW! You could get one for a couple hundred bucks out of a 97-01 v6 F150.

I would say since you have 195k on it already, more than likely someone has already done the head gasket issue for you. Maybe not, but they usually go way before 195. As for the life span of a motor, it varies, I have 226k almost 227 and she still runs like a top. I am meticulous about oil changes, tune-ups, flushes, etc... SongTradingUSA said it best, you take of your ride, it will take care of you. If you're out mashing it all day, everyday, then it will break down just like any other mechanical part put under high stress.
