Hood for M112
I just got my M112 today. I will be installing it next month. I think my two options for hoods are a 4" cowl or cut a hole in mine and mount the scoop on top. I dont like the look of the cowl hoods at all. Just wanted to get some opinions...
Also, I live in Chicago so there is snow and rain. This is my daily driver. Do I need to have ventilation by taking out the honeycomb on the scoop? I wanted to leave the honeycomb in and insulate the front and sides so no moisture would get in.

cobra hood wont clear. it also will be too high for the stock scoop to cover. your best bet is a 3" cowl, which will need a hole for the pulley. then cover the hole with a 99-04 GT scoop
Since you said you are installing it next month I take it that you've purchased the SSM adaptor. In which case you will need a 4" cowl to clear them112 pulleyor cut the stock hood (those are your only options when using the SSM plate). I take it you've already done your research regarding the install?
I've spoken with ssm but have not bought it yet. i have the m112, 39lb injectors, plenum, throttle body and maf. i will be ordering a 310lph fuel pump this week. I am a little light on cash until next paycheck so i have to wait about a week to order from ssm (then a 3 week wait time on their end). wish it wasnt $900 though, its really putting a dent in my cashflow.
you mentioned cutting the stock hood, which is what i may want to do. does the pulley have to be entirely exposed? i wanted to cover it with the honeycomb and insulate it as there is plenty of rain and snow throughout the year..

If you are keeping the stock hood almost the entire m112 will stick out of the hood. I had mine sticking out of the hood for over a year and never had an issue with rain or snow. Of course when the belt is wet you can't go WOT b/c the belt slips but you should know not to go WOT in the rain.
