RPMS WONT DROP
ok guys, this problem used to occur, but went away for a while. When i shift my rpms wont drop. It starts after a few miles of driving and wont go away untill i restart the car.
my car used to have a high idle but i cleaned the iac and maf and it fixed the problem.
im preatty sure when i clutch and shift into nuetral while moving my rpms should go to about 700ish(idle). but this only happens about 1 out of 5 times it usaually stays in the 1200's untill i come to a DEAD stop.
is this a tranny problem? i just got a new clutch and fly wheel 3000 miles ago.
plz any help would be appriciated.

OK, do you mean that when you shift the RPMs just flat out don't fall, or do you mean that when you push out the clutch they don't fall?
If it's the clutch, that's normal, the RPMs are suppossed to hang till you hit the next gear, then fall after you let off the cluth, if they're not falling at all, then you have a serrious issue with the transmission itself. In other words, you're not shifting gears. If they're falling well after the clutch has been let off, then something is probably hanging up with the clutch, cable may be stuck, etc. In any since, it's not the K&N, MAF, etc. If it was an intake problem, you'd have much different things to worry about.

Same thing has happened to me randomly on a few occasions. After I go into neutral coming to a stop at a light, the RPMs hang at 2,000. They drop if I just push the clutch in and let it out. I don't have any performance mods, just a Tri-ax.
I think Mustangs dont really like when you mess with the intake system like Shizzle said. I had and still have a issue with the RPMs not dropping right away (stay at 1000 until I get to a full stop), and other times the RPMs drop to low (500 RPMs) and the car will shake for a few sec. before the engine kicks the RPMs up to 700. Good luck.
