Default Sputtering

Hi. Just recently my mustang has started chugging and sputtering pretty badly at times when I accelerate. It almost feels like something is clogging up the system when I press down on the gas pedal decently hard. I had the fuel filter and air filter replaced last year so I'm guessing that's not the problem.
-Any ideas what may be causing this? I would prefer to try a home fix obviously, before I have to take it to a shop.

It's a 2002 with only 35,000 miles on it. As you can tell by the milage, it's a fairly lightly driven car. So it's not like I'm putting heavy wear and tear on the engine or driving it into the ground.
Any insight would be great. Thanks.

it could be the fuel pump. i had a similar problem with my car, changed the coil pack and it ran like new.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
- Anyone happen to know if it's normal for a fuel pump to go bad after only 35,000 miles?

No thats not normal. But if you use bad gas, or if you just got a really bad tank of gas you could go through a pump.

Thanks. I think I'll give a fuel treatment a shot to try and clear things up before I move on to the next thing.

could be a bad misfire from bad plugs. you also might want to see who does an air intake service clean with the BG air intake cleaner, induction system cleaner, and the 44k to knock out all of the carbon build up in the intake and clean whatevers in the fuel system.

i just had that problem go put a set of ngk platinum spark plugs it it and it should be ok. start with the simple b4 you go throwing money in it .

bad gas will not make a fuel pump go bad! it will make the car stumble but not cause a faulty pump

look into putting a set of wires on it
and if the problem presests still it will need a coil pack put on it

Thanks for the tips. Just did the fuel treatment, so I'll give it a bit of time to see if that corrects it. If not, then on to the spark plugs and the other options mentioned. Thanks again.
