FWIW,
My car showed a ~5whp gain when I switched from a K&N filter w/ silencer removed to a BBK CAI, which is a fenderwell design... and I didn't need a tune.
ShadowSix, did you have the little mesh screen still installed in front of your MAF when you had your problems?
