the backing is aluminum, not plexiglass. if it were plexiglass you would see behind the plate and you would be able to see all of the wiring and the mess from the stock radio harness. the back plate is a piece of aluminum cut to fit the hole then polished. the pony is a grill pony bought from ford that i made a "bracket" to hold it just slightly above the aluminum plate. in the middle of the aluminum plate there is a hole where i have a blue led mounted. this way it shines around behind the pony.

i dont know of any writeups.
i used the power from the automatic transmition indicator lights. these come on when the headlights come on and the led takes so little power that it does not effect them at all. if you have a manual the wiring is probably still there under the console, you just have to find it. if i remember right its a very small connector with a black and brown wire coming out of it. you have to take the center console out to get to it.

well thats exactly what i said to do. You can go to a place like ace that cut plexi, if they have scrap u will get it for free thats what i did. Also if you want the look of engraved rather than an emblem do what i said and put the sticker there. You can just attach the lights on to the remote wire.
