Default Tail pipe / Muffler / Catalytic Converter Problem

Hi everyone,

I hope this is in the right section. I have a 2000 Ford Mustang w/ dual exhaust (was like that when I bought it at the dealership) and recently the pipe that goes into the muffler (I'm not a car junkie by any means but I believe its part of the catalytic converter) broke off. My car sounds extremely loud now, and no exhaust comes out the pipes anymore, rather it comes out by the muffler now since the pipe is dangling and not connected into the muffler anymore. Does anyone know how much something like this will cost to fix? I'm a college student and im praying its not too expensive. If I need a whole new catalyic converter I figure it'll cost a couple hundred? Otherwise im hoping for something around $50-$100?

Thanks!

hmm just sounds like the weilding was **** going into the muffler. take it to a shop or a friend and have them re weild it. it shouldnt cost more than 40$ at a shop. if thats not t, then some pictures of it can help a bunch.
