Default hood insulator

what are the pro's/con's of removing it? If you do remove it, does the engine sound better from the outside? I always thought it was some sort of noise emissions.

no difference really i took mine out so i could make room for my windstar and i found no difference in anything at all. Although the windstar swap changes the sound and power of the engine.

isnt it suppose to be their if a fire happens the plastic tabs melt and it smothers the fire? and quiet the noise

also a heat shield. remove it if the underside of the hood looks good. i think the insulator looks fugly
