so i change my radiator fluid about to go on my power steering fluid and i noticed red foam? is that good? i goggle it and nothing.

 

The fluid IS red, so you jsut basically have bubbles. Do you have any leaks or anything?? I've never seen bubbles in my power steering fluid.

 

no my fluid is never low. i know the fluid should look like a reddish tint to it. so i drain it. then i got some Lucas power steering to stop the moan of it. and once it hit the resivor it just turn a bright pink. and the cap has a thick foam on it

 

It's from moisture in the system. When the fluid gets warm enough, the mositure will evaporate and end up on the underside of the cap. Not a big worry. Just keep wiping it off and eventually all the water will evaporate and it will quit doing that.

sorry nope. the car had Type F fluid put into the power steering unit. it is highly detergent. detergent by definition means foaming/scouring. dexron works better without the foaming. either is OK but the high detergent is what can cause some whining and alittle wear in the rack. the best is either dexron light red or straight powersteering fluid which is light yellow in color. type a or type F is deep red and real high detergent and heavier viscosity. Dexron in it's many forms are fine. dollar general powersteering fluid is best with alittle lucas added to it. it's low detergent but has the right properties.

in a pinch you can also use SAE30 oil mixed 50/50 with Kero for powersteering fluid or just 10W oil/hydraulic oil

 

When you say Lucas do you mean the salt stuff you eat? And By Kero you mean corn syrup? At what point did you think "Hey I wonder if this will work?" and toss that stuff in there?

 

no i meant lucas oil products and Kero i meant kerosene. we ran diesel mixed with 40W oil for heavy equip hydraulic oil in a pince before.

 

OKay, that sounds a lot better then tossing some candy and cooking stuff in your engine.

How you guys know that it would work? Just a quess or what?
