Default Keys... Again

I was just talking with my brother in law. He's a GM tech and he said that I dont have to get my car trailered to the dealership to get my new keys. Apparently with GM they just take your VIN and they look in the database and can program the keys without the vehicle. I dont know if it is the same with Ford so Im going to phone the dealership on monday and ask them about this. I decided to put it up on here first just so I know if I need to arrange a truck or not.

Why in the fukk are you asking a GM tech? He has no clue what he is talking about. You HAVE to take it to the dealer, and you have to do the same with GM, the only thing the VIN will do is give you the key code in order to cut the keys, not program them.

Man what is with everyone talking to these retard "techs" this week?

GM does not have the PATS system like ford you need to take your car there so that they can program your PATS.

GM actually has gone to a "pats" style system, the only keys that they don't need the vehicle for are those rediculous keys with the resistor chip in them, there's a whopping 8 different codes, way to blow GM
