cooling fan not working
#11
Ok heres an update...Turned control to A/C as suggested...fan came on, switched control back to defrost...fan stayed on, car idled for over 1 hr with no over heating with fan running. Drove car about for about 45 mins fan continued to run and temp stayed around N or O on gauge just like is always has. So I am guessing that means the coolant temperature sensor is bad. Sound right?

However I'm betting it's the CCRM, since a faulty ECT would also cause noticeable driveability problems or bad fuel consumption, which you have not noted.

If you have a DVOM, ECT is easily checked : http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=28

Depends how it fails, this device can send a high or low signal, if it sends a cold engine signal this could stop the fan from coming on when the engine is hot at low road speed or in traffic congestion. Also you can get the fan to come on with the A/C control since it overides the ECT in this event.
