Rough Start-Up
When I start up my '00 after a day, it runs fine. I usually auto start it and it has no problem in the cold. However, say I'm driving the car for a half an hour to an hour, and shut it off for about ten to fifteen minutes, it doesn't start up too nicely. When I start it back up after that little time period, the car begins to sort of "choke", but it doesn't die. The rpm's vary from about 500 to 1500. It does have 118K, but is there a bigger problem here?
I had this with my vehicle. Turned out to be an unresponsive thermostat in the engine. It wasn't balancing the fuel mixture properly, thinking the engine was cold, even though it wasn't. You may want to check it out. That's a cheap part to replace.
Haven't replaced fuel pump or filter lately, I have to look into that. The thermostat sounds like it could be the problem, because it seems to happen when the heat is on. If I'm idling at a red light, the car jumps a lot. By jumping I mean the rpm's rise a bit and I have to apply more pressure on the brakes.
