If it runs PERFECT, get a good K&N filter, maybe some Long Tube headers, and duel exhaust, For your sons sake, get a Detroit True Track rear end, Get some good looking rims and good tires, new stereo and speakers just to be cool, tint the windows, lowering springs, new shocks/struts....If I think of anything else, I'll add it.

If it runs like pooo, then engine rebuild? and split port swap.

??? My '00 is pushing 130k and its reliable enough. Just minor stuff like bad shocks...

My brother-in-law has a '96 or '97 with 170k and its running great.

It would be the $500 thing that scared me though...whats wrong with the car to make it that cheap? Condition of the body?

its not the miles thats off, its the combo of price age and miles that makes me think its been run into the ground

The just replace all the wearable suspension components, steering components, new bearings all the way around, driveshaft u-joints, drain and fluch all your fluids, and leave the rest of the money in the bank for repairs.

front and rear control arm bushing, balljoints, inner and outer tie rod ends, steering shaft, front hub bearings, new rear axle seals and possibly bearings.

You can probably snag the 04 Cobra control arms from Ford for less than it would cost to put new parts in the ones you have, and it will reduce your turning radius, which is always a plus.

Rear control arms are probably also gonna be cheaper to replace than to rebuild. Front hubs are pretty easy to do, check the brakes, they may need to be redone as well.
