Default Difficult Shift out from Park 02 Mustang Automatic 3.8L

Well, I get up and out to my car this morning, and after I start it and try to shift from park the button won't push in on the shifter. So after an ample amount of force I'm able to get it to click in to shift out of park, but when I put it back in, I get the same problem. It'll push in fine out of any other position, (D, 1, 2, R, N) just not out of park.

Does anyone have an insight on this one?

I'm thinking this might have something to do with the brakes. I was reading about the brake interlock on other cars, since the brake pedal has to be depressed for the lock to release to shift out of park.
