Stupid Light
My girlfriend will not stop bugging me about this, and I've tried everything.
She has an '02 V6 Mustang Automatic, and the 'Service Engine Soon' light will not go off to save my life. I have replaced the oil/filter, sparkplugs , transmission fluid, changed the air filter, checked O2 sensors. Is there something I'm missing, she wont shut up about it. Help! Thanks

Get the trouble code(s) read, then you won't have to guess at what is causing the SES light to be on. For free, if you know someone with a flash tuner made for Ford vehicles most of them will read trouble codes on any Ford vehicle, or Autozone will do it if you have their stores in your area.
I wouldn't want an SES light on all the time either, because you would never know if it was something really serious or not. Also an '02 model is too new to let something like that go on.

I agree, but like I said Ive almost tried everything I know to do, the engine sounds fine, runs great, and there doesnt seem to be any lag in anything, so I dont know.
At first I thought It might have something to do woth the A/C because its been running warmer than normal, but then again its Texas, and its summer. So who knows.
Where can I get the trouble codes, and what do i do with them after I get them? New mustangs arent really my 'cup of tea'

Plug a code reader into the OBD port to the right of the steering column. Since you're in Texas, I have read in numerous posts that Autozone stores will do this for free. Anyone you know with a flash tuner can also read them. Once you get the code you can decipher it at Diablosport's website at http://www.diablosport.com/FordDTC.php
I apprecite all the help, and I'll dfinatley tke it AutoZone today. You dont realize how much that chick can whine about a stupid light, I say if its running fine then theres no problem. Take it easy buddy. Thanks
Good luck. Here's a link to code info from StangNet: http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=514350
