Default Odometer

My odometer stopped working and Im not sure how to fix it. Ive never had to deal with this problem. Im going to take the cluster out and my guess would be its just a gear that has gone bad but Im really not sure. Can anyone shed some light on this problem?

I had this problem a couple years ago. There are two plastic gears in the gauge cluster and they wear out over time. Some places sell both and just replace them, use some grease and should be as good as new. I've seen this pop up occasionally so try the search function and you may find a more detailed description or places to buy the parts.

Well i have a question.

Mine tends to shut off from time to time then turn back on.

Anyone know why?

The car does have 168k on it.
