how can you tell if you have a 3.8 or 3.9l v6
there is no major difference between the 3.8's and 3.9's other than a slightly longer stroke they used them because they were going over to the 4.0 and had discontinued the 3.8 but had the 3.9's that were from the freestar/windstar all performance parts are interchangable and the easiest way to tell is on the fan schroud it it just says v-6 it is a 3.9 the 3.8's say 3.8 or you can look on the hood
That depends on WHO you ask. I asked the guys at American Muscle about a CAI, and they told me that performance parts are all specialty. Heads are different, throttle body angle is different, and they can't even do a tune for a 3.9L. I've gotten some emails from Super6 and they offer the parts you'll need.

ok so, there is definitely a tune from american muscle available. the sct says it has a preloaded tune for the 3.9l v6. and for the intake all i need to plug is the iat sensor on the intake i ordered
you'd better call and make sure about that tune. I spoke to one of the sales reps on the phone, and he went and asked a supervisor, who supplied the info I'm passing on. Again, I was told they COULD NOT do a tune on a 3.9L. The guys from Super6 said there is no difference, and I figured if AM doesn't know enough about performance parts for my V6, then I would buy mine from someone who did.
Maybe this weekend. I think I might going to the track on saturday, would you wanna bring ur car?
