Default Driveshaft Removal

Im taking my trans down tomorrow and was wondering how the hell do I get the driveshaft to back off the differential flange? I put my rear in last week and noticed that the pinion bold sticks out into the driveshaft flange... Since its already a tight fit and you cant slide it towards the trans how do you get it off??? Also should there be any play at all in the U-Joints? Mine slides around just a few hairs.

I believe it's a 12mm wrench. It's a 12 point bolt so you have to use the closed end of the wrench. Some are on there pretty dam tight so use "the strong hand" And just when you get done with 2 bolts turn the driveshaft 180* and there will be 2 more waiting for you.
Don't forget to make a alignment mark before you take it apart, as it will need to be aligned the same when you put it back on.

I know that, how do you think I got it off before... lol Last time the differential was loose so it just slid right off but since Im taking the trans off it wont be.

All Im saying is how will it slip off with the pinion nut and bolt sticking up into the DS flange.

WHen you unbolt it from the flange, slige it into the tranny, then it will come down, just have a rag ready to fill the out put shaft hole when you take out the driveshaft to stop fluid from leaking out.

I don't think there's really a straight answer to your question. You're just gonna have to play with the DS until you can get it off of the pinion bolt. Unless you wanna unbolt the rear end too.

IT was probably already in all the way when you put your rearend back in, you most likely didn't notice when it slid out far enough to meet the diff.

it has to have slack in it for suspension travel, not just removal, so you should be all good.
