Question stuttering??

ok so i have a problem once a week...heres the problem this week...recently(within the past week or so) my mustang (3.8L v6) kinda has a squeaky noise coming from the sepentine belt. it isnt really loud or any thing but ive never hearn my car make that noise before. and sometimes when i step on the gas, especially when i first start the car in the mornig, the car kinda stutters. it isnt like really serious at this point but i dont want this to turn into something major. so if you guys have any suggestions, let me know.

and by the way...i did a little research, and one website said that if you spray water on the belt, it will stop squeaking and if it starts the noise again, then something could be wrong with a pulley. does this sound legit. i spayed water on the belt and the noise stopped for a few mins and started again.

also, i just did a raiator flush and i got a little coolant on the belt. Could that be causing the squeak

The squeak & stutter are almost definately seperate issues.

The belt problem is likely a minor slipping, turn all electrical items off & see if it still does it or turn everything on & see if it gets worse! Good idea to take off the belt wash, with dish soap & clean all the pulleys the same way, try not to get soap in the bearings!

The stuttering when cold sounds like worn plugs, Motorcraft or Autolites are best for Fords EDIS.
Any CEL yet?

Aeroman.

^x2 Look for cracks in your belt as well. Coolant on a belt can cause a squeak.I've never tried the soap thing though. How many miles are on your car?

well ive driven with all the eletrical stuff off and i still hear the noise. It doesnt get louder or anything and most people dont even notice it. so i'll try cleaning the belt or just completely replace it today. hopefully that'll fix the sqeak issue.

I will also try to repalce the spark plugs and see what happens. But what is CEL (my car knowledge is very limited. lol)

For the stuttering I'd also check out the fuel filter. If you can;t remember the last time you replaced it, it's probably a good time to do it.
