For the same reason, firing order, you don't need an H-pipe either so there's always the weld-on fabricated midpipe solution. Is the exhaust sound on a V6 with a catted X- or H-pipe significantly different that one with separate midpipes welded on after the stock cats?
you do get a few more hp from a H- or X-pipe, but you should really do it for the sound. my car sounds mean with the h-pipe and no mufflers but i like the higher pitched snarl of the x with no mufflers. it is all preference, did i spell that right (preference), whichever you like, do it. but an aftermarket X- or H-pipe will get you more power than a one-off mufflers shop special
