Default IAC?

Yesterday I decided to do the IAC gasket trick. I drove the car for maybe a quarter mile and everything was fine. Today I go out and crank the car and it is idling at maybe 700-750 rpm . I mashed the gas and it rev'd up then as the rpm's dropped they went below 500 rpm and the car was acting like it was going to stall. I am wondering if I did the IAC trick right and thats how it is suppose to be or if I need to open the holes up a little more?

Got the idling problem resolved..now just got to take the upper intake off(wish i had a tuner and windstar upper to replace) and get a broken IAC bolt out and retap the hole..any suggestions for easy removal of the upper intake?

It's actually pretty easy, and very obvious, go get a new gasket for it though, any dealer should stock it.
