Default Revving engine and just wondering..

ok.. So the car just needs a few minor items to be done and ready for body shop.. just curious though.. i started up the car and had her running.. i tapped the pedal and she revved up but held the rev even though i took my foot off the pedal.. it held the rev for about 2-3 seconds after i took my foot of the pedal.. not a huge rev.. i literally just tapped the pedal quick.. just wondering if that is normal... also i noticed that when i revved higher when i took my foot off the pedal the rpms dropped significantly lower then they are at idle.. my gauge is actually messed up from when i did the gauge overlays.. but lets say for right now the gauge needle sits between the 2k and 2300 mark at idle... when i revved it up she dropped to about the 1200-1500 mark and then what seemed to rev herself back up to the idle point described before and stayed.. why the drop like that after revving and is that something that should be happening?

My car does the same thing. If its idling at say 500rpm and I tap the gas it will go to 600rpm, tap it again it goes up. I can do that until its at 1000rpm , but it wont hold the rpms after 1000.

I did the IAC gasket mod so my car idles at around 500rpm.

Sounds like you may need some tuning adjustment done with the IAC
