Default hmm

It is illegal to run a car without mufflers right?

I have cats on, thinking about doing straight from the cats back, and doing my dual 40s later.

You can run without mufflers..but it will sound like poo..as far as passing inspections i am in nc and have full longtube exhaust without cats and have never had a single problem as of yet getting my inspection sticker.

Thanks. I thought it was illegal to have no mufflers.

I think I am just gonna do the full set-up

MAC LT headers, x-pipe with high flow cats, and flow 40s. Just gonna go ahead and do it now, and not regret going cheap later.

Running without mufflers is not illegal. The legality comes to the dB level achieved by not having them on. You cannot get cited for not having mufflers, but you can if the veh is audible a certain distance away. How many motorcycles do you see without mufflers.

Ok, then show me a car that can run no muffler and still pass a noise ordinance, ask those bike owners how often they get hassled, why do you think bike groups are always trying to get laws passed to allow motorcycles to run without silencers

My friend had a 85 Chev Silverado w/ 350 and straight pipes and he was legal by I think 3 dB. The cops made him do the test. I dont know what the legal dB rating is up here tho.

But cops are cracking down more and more on loud exhausts.

No one seems to really care in NC... More trucks seem to have problems around where I live but that's because they have obnoxious exhaust and drive crazy.
