Since you put a new water pump on, I would say you have air in your cooling system. I am not sure on your model of Mustang, but most have a bleed valve on top there some place where you can bleed the air out. If the thermostat is installed right side up, and it is not bad, then try bleeding the air out of the cooling system.

The a/c compressor is cycling cause you must have it set to defrost on the heating control. That is another problem and nothing to do with the cooling issue. Cycling on and off may mean it is low on freon. Good luck!

I wouldn't buy a stant thermostat, they suck IMO, I've used mr gasket or OEM motocraft stats with no problem.

If you keep losing water and you don't know why or how, that isn't a good thing. I hope that isn't the case for you, keep us informed.
