Question Need help with airbag problem...

Hi guys, this is my first post and I need some help.

I bought a 2000 Mustang v6 that was in a front end collision and both air bags deployed. I had the air bag module reset and purchased 'new' airbags.

This is my problem. When I plug in only one airbag, either the right side only, or the left side only, I get a airbag error for the side that's not plugged in as being 'open' - well that makes sense, nothings plugged in for the corresponding airbag.

When I have both airbags plugged in I get code 35; passenger airbag circuit shorted. But like I said above, if I leave the passenger airbag plugged in, and remove the drivers, I will get code 32; drivers open, and it would appear that the passenger is fine.

I also plugged the drivers airbag into the passenger airbag connection and vice versa, but same problem; which leads me to believe that the airbags themselves are fine.

What should I try now? I believe my clock spring to be fine and am out of ideas. I have a Hyans manual, but it does not have any sort of airbag troubleshooting or wiring diagrams.

Any help would be much appreciated.

You probably need to replace the crash sensors, or you have to get the module flashed at the dealer

Wouldn't the crash sensors have their own code? I had the module reprogrammed by a friend, the dealer wanted to sell me a new one...

I'm not that good with crash systems unfortunately, but I would imagine that if they are broken, they wouldn't through a sensor code.

I guess that's true too, I don't know how complex Ford made them, I would think they would have some sort of BITE system.

in our car i THINK it's the style sensor that once it's triggered it done and has to be replaced because it's two contacts separated by insulation and in a crash the contacts break and come in contact and stay

Is that the sensor on the bumper that your talking about(believe it to be the G-sensor), or the one in the dash(airbag control module)?
