Default Good Idea?

I'm about to get a lower intake from Supersixmotorsports, a Windstar upper intake, and a JMod. Do you guys think that those are good buys? I was going with a Windstar and a cam until I realized how much it would cost for install and the fact that I would need a custom tune for it!

those will definitely be some good mods. and a custom tune could only make those mods more fun.

OK, I'm confussed, you're getting an upper/lower intake, and a cam, but no heads....kind of creating a bottle neck there don't you think?

BTW, install the stuff yourself, to install an upper/lower intake you're looking at around $400-600. To install a cam, looking at around $1500-2000. To install the upper/lower intake it will take you 4-6 hours your first time around. Heads with that, around 10 hours, cam, around 14-16 hours, maybe longer, depends on how much trouble you have with the timing chain cover and by that, I mean the reinstall.

And you don't have to pay for the cam install... If you can find another ride for a few days, you should be able to do all that yourself. It's not too hard. And I agree, get heads if your gonna do all that. And yes, get a tune, that's a must.

*edit.. ^^^ jthorn can obviously type faster than me lol

I'm holding off on the cam for now considering it needs a custom tune and install costs. I was thinking about attempting the intake myself (not mechanically inclined tho). I wasn't aware that I needed a custom tune for the intakes. Would I be fine just using the '93 Octane tune from my Diablo???

Do I have to send my valve body to VAP or should a transmission shop be able to perform the jmod for me?

You either have to send your valve body to vap or buy one and send it to them to aviod having down time on your car. I don't think a trans shop can do the jmod. How hard is it to take out the valve body?
