Problems w/ SCT Tuner
So, I just received the tuner in the mail today. I bought it used from eBay over the weekend. However, when I went to use it, I had a small problem. Plugged into the vehicle or the usb cable, I end up with a blank screen. The backlight comes on, but then nothing happens. Hopefully the issue is something that is simple to fix. If you have any ideas, let me know. Thanks in advance.
Also: The product number is SCT 3015.

You shoulda did some research first, instead of just "jumping on a deal". You have to send your tuner to SCT to have it either unlocked and or programmed to your car's computer. (You need your computer code)
Well, the tuner was SUPPOSED to be unlocked (if it would turn all the way on, I'm sure it is). The problem is not with the unlocking, and the 3015 works with all 99-04 V6 strategies. I didn't "JUMP ON A DEAL" thank you very much, I did plenty of research on the device and what I can do with it. The SF3 is simply the X3 with some preloaded tunes on it.
At the very least the tuner should come on when plugged into my computer. The only thing I'm getting is the backlight, no text on the screen. Unless I'm completely crazy, I don't need an unlocked tuner or a vehicle computer code to update the firmware via PC. The issue, I must believe, is with the device. I have tried unhooking the stereo in my car, the fuel pump fuse, and the motor fan fuse, as per the instructions. Nothing changed, I'm either not getting enough power or the SF3 is damaged.
If anyone has any ideas on a way to resolve my issue, please let me know. Again, thanks in advance for any help.

My other post must not have gone through. I called SCT that day, they sent me a label to overnight it to them. It's on the way back already. The whole deal was free of charge. Now all that's left is to get a tune from VMP.
On a side note, I wasn't whining, so much as looking for some help, and then getting a b**** answer. Even on obvious questions, or ones you think are dumb, answering without passing judgment is preferable. If you can't offer constructive input, certainly don't post just to insult someone, unless you're in OT, in which case...

That's good, but yeah, it's broken. I have an SCT and all it will do when it's locked is say, car is locked to (and says a bunch of stuff). If it wasn't programmed to your car it wouldn't even turn on.
Yea, I'm actually glad it was just "broken." Had it been locked, I'd have had to pay to fix it. Free always wins, in my opinion. Plus, they are sending it back with all 5 unlocks. It was unlocked from a car before I believe, so this is even better. I know I had read before that their customer service was sub-par, but this certainly changes my opinion.
sounds like the guy tried to update the devise and didn't do both flash updates. You have to do both device firmware and tune revision, probably fix it yourself. If they will do it for free though I say go for it.
