Is the whinning when the car first starts up in the morning or mostly when you turn to wheel? If its in the morning, or when the car is cold then yes its the belt, if its when you turn the wheel then its the power stearing and ALLLLLLL Fords do it to some degree. Also with the clicking, is it when you turn the car on when its cold only or is it a normal all the time thing? If its only when the car is cold then its the exhaust mainfold is cracked and you will have to get a new one, or have the old one welded shut.

Just trying to help,
Matthew

i appreciate the help! its not just when cold, for the clicking. my friend said it might be my alternator, its coming from that general direction. the noise is kind of a humming, when its idle, not just at start, its like my car is trying to cool down? I dont know.

You can take your alt. to any shop like Autozone, Pepboys, Napa, ect and they will check it to see if its still good. The humming sounds like the cooling fan running to cool down the rad. Next time you hear humming pull over, pop the hood, and see if the rad is running. That should tell you if thats what it is or if the noice is coming from some place else...

i appreciate the help, one more thing, when I was driving last night home, i was about to pull in to the apartments, and I had my subs going and my stereo, my engine just shut off but my power was still on, could my alternator be the problem for that?

I was thinking maybe i just pulled a dumbass move and had my gear in and slowed way down and stalled but Im not sure. If that was the case then stupid me lol

Did your lights dim before the car died? I know when my alt was dying my dash lights, and my headlights dimmed and when I would rev the engine the lights would come back to full power. When you have the lights going, the radio, and subs you are drawing alot of power and if your alt is bad (or going bad) it would affect the engine. But like you said also you could have just been in the wrong gear and stalled out.

Thanks for all the help, Ill keep my eye on the lights if it does happen again. Do you know a good place to get an alternator that will be sufficient for running a system?

What size unit are you running? The OEM Ford alt. should be perfectly fine for almost any system you could have as long as you dont have a UDP...
