Default Lowering Springs/Shocks+Struts

I have a set of Ford Racing "B" Springs and KYB Shocks and Struts ready to be installed along with a bumpsteer kit.
Can I cut a 1/2 spring and install without re-temping the metal? I want the front of the car another 1/2"-1" lower than what I've seen with these springs.I'm going with these because I got all of it for $100 and I still need to install clutch, flywheel, 3:73 gears ect.. that I have accumulated and have in waiting.
Anybody know of this being done on front springs?

I have since read enough to convince me not to remove a coil. Anybody have progressive front springs that are low and have a soft ride?? Anyone?
