Default Actron scan tool 9575 fuel pressure question

I was messing with my new little scan tool. It has a function you can view live data. One of the readings is fuel pressure. Can the pcm even monitor this? Any sensor? I was getting a reading around 40 psi cold and went up to around 65 when the car warmed up. Just curious. Thanks

38.5-40psi is where it is suppose to be, there is something odd about 65 o_o;;

I am no expert but I would be willing to bet that the readings you are getting are pressure from the fuel pump, not after the fuel pressure regulator.

Why not just buy a FPG and connect it to the schrader valve on the fuel rail to see your real in-rail fuel pressure?

Thanks for the reply. I can't really see it monitoring fuel pressure in the tank. Maybe it extrapolates voltage? Your right about manually checking it but I just replaced the pump a while back and don't want to spend the $$$. I was just trying to figure out the readings on the new scanner and if it was even accurate? Is there a fuel pressure sensor? I know on my 7.3 diesel there is not.

Well the fuel pump is controlled by the ECU in which case it needs to monitor it.

Pressure isnt in the tank btw, thats line presser after the pump.

A FPG is cheap, Harbor Freight has them for around $8 bux the last time I saw them advertised.

Free is even cheaper. Most auto parts stores will rent them to you and will give you your money back when you return it.

Ahh I forgot about that, very true on the rental thing.

Its so easy to do you can do it right there in the parking lot.
