Default Need some headers

I got a 2000 Roush Stage 1 with the 3.8l v6 a week ago and when I went to get the car inspected it failed for a left exhaust manifold leak. The mechanic at Dobbs said it was cracked and they gave me an estimate to replace it for $415.57. I've heard the 99-04 headers are known to crack so I figured I might as well get some aftermarket ones. Money is kind of an issue so I've been looking at either BBK or pacesetter shorties (any other good brands that aren't too expensive let me know). And I live in Missouri and have to pass inspection, so I ruled out long tubes because I heard they won't pass.

I'm not sure if I need any other pipes or anything for my exhaust system to make it all work (I don't know a lot about car tech unfortunately ). It currently has the roush side exhaust with flowmaster super 44's.

Thanks for the help

UNless you plan to buy MAC LT's, then just use a stock replacement. BBK's and Pacesetters are a TOTAL waste.

I don't know if long tubes would fit on my car exhaust system. And I'm kind of weary about getting a stock replacement since I've read that they crack easily.

I can get shorty pacesetter headers + installation from a custom mechanic cheaper than i can get one stock header + installation from dobbs

If you buy the MAC LT's and midpipe it will fit to your flow tubes to the mufflers just fine.

They are the best choice.

You will also need a set of slip fit high flow cats.

Otherwise I have a set of stockers for sale and you can put a sheet metal shield over the pass side manifold to keep the dreaded drip from cracking the manifold.

long tubes or 94-98 stockers are technically "headers"

get a set of-98 stock manifolds. They are better made and just as good as shorty headers plus you can pick some up for around $50

I've seen the mac lt's online but I wouldn't even know where to get a midpipe or high flow cats that will all work. How much are your stock ones? and the one that's cracked now is the left side, can i put sheet metal over that one too if i do go with this option?

btw, as far as I know you CAN run LT's in Missouri as long as you have cats.

Check with the local laws in your city since they change city to city here instead of state to state.

Here in Springfield LT's are ok with cats.

Do these require any modification or would they bolt right on? and if you have any leads on to where I could pick some up, thatd be awesome!

If you want mine you can have them for $50 or equiv trade.

The shield is always a good idea on the pass side.
Condensation from the A/C line drips on the manifold as well as from a little hole in the firewall drainback.

What city do you live in?
